Requirements
for the Child Care Industry Child Care Centers
are required under Federal law to comply with OSHA standards for
exposure to blood and body fluids containing blood. These standards are
called the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards. The standards
address Universal Precautions that must be taken when there is exposure
to blood or body fluids that contain visible blood.
In Michigan, the Child Care Organizations Act (1973 PA 116) requires that a person with current certification in First Aid and CPR be present. Superior Life Services offers courses specifically designed to meet the needs of Child Care Providers. The courses are Heartsaver First Aid with CPR/AED and Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens. Superior Life Services is an approved training center in Michgan with our affiliation with the American Heart Association.
